When I was approached by The Royal College of Surgeons to design and make a bespoke lectern as a gift for the American College of Surgeons, they were keen for the piece to have a truly Scottish, but better still a real Edinburgh connection.
Many of my designs are inspired by the elegant and flowing lines found in natural forms, reflecting the natural beauty of the hardwoods that i use in my furniture.
Biography
Tom has been designing and making furniture for over 20 years.
His designs have a graceful, organic element to them,
contrasted with geometric lines and subtle features in
the form of contrasting timbers and exposed joint details.
Tom himself states, " Many of my designs are inspired by
the elegant and flowing lines found in natural forms,
reflecting the natural beauty of the Scottish hardwoods
that I use in my furniture."
