Biography

Based on Deeside in the Cairngorms National Park, Tor Workshop make bespoke and unique furniture and objects from local Scottish hardwoods. Provenance led, we seek to tell a story of place through our furniture and often revisit historical Scottish vernacular design in our work.

The majority of our material is sourced from near our workshop and we can often trace our timber back to the stump. With this, the lived history of the tree becomes integral to the character of the furniture and allows a new life after the natural death of the tree. Our furniture is made for living with and is made to withstand the wear and tear of the day to day; a quiet but constant witness to the future history of family life.
