Biography
John is a seasoned construction professional with over two and a half decades of hands on experience, but his true passion, has always been woodworking.
In 2022, John made a courageous decision following his successful cancer treatment to pivot his business towards furniture making. A move that many of his friends, family and clients strongly encouraged, recognising that not only that he had the practical skills, but also an innate foresight, and incredible ability to blend form with function.
With a curious mind, John constantly seeks inspiration from the world around him. Whether it’s the grain of a particular wood, the interplay of light and shadow in a courtyard or the interface between structural steel and the building’s architecture. His observations often lead him to create furniture that tells a story or has a hidden element.
John’s design influence is a blend of Shaker, Japanese and Scandinavian design. A balance between traditional craftmanship, minimalist aesthetics, sleek and simplistic form and practical purpose.
In the workshop, John thrives on the meticulous details that make each creation special. He is forever on the quest for perfection, ensuring that every piece is not only visually appealing but also functional and durable.
John takes great delight in the challenge of transforming simple raw materials into functional, high quality, heirloom pieces, but most of all, he is extremely grateful that he has been able to follow his heart, proving that it’s never too late to turn a passion into a thriving career.
