Minimal furniture inspired by Japanese form and Scandinavian function.
Biography
I started making furniture in earnest on my own around 2016 when I bought a new flat. I was always interested in the processes and tools involved. For many years, I've been into interior design and design furniture in particular.
In 2019 I enrolled in the Professional course at the Chippendale International School of Furniture in the Scottish Borders. I graduated in 2021, earning the Student of the Year award.
Since then, I have my own furniture design and making business. I use a considered approach to materials, construction, and longevity. My work draws on traditional joinery, with an emphasis on precision, restraint, and proportion.
Each piece develops through direct engagement with the material— typically locally sourced hardwoods—allowing the timber to inform both form and construction.
I am particularly interested in the relationship between structure and surface: how joints resolve, how components meet, and how objects age over time. The aim is to create work that is both robust and visually quiet.
Aside from my furniture design business, I teach at the Chippendale International School of Furniture.
