From his workshop in a converted barn in the Ayrshire countryside, Brian Baird designs and makes unique pieces of traditional and contemporary, handcrafted furniture. Inspired by the understated style of Arts and Crafts furniture and the perfectly balanced proportions of Japanese carpentry, Brian marries form and function with meticulous attention to detail to produce pieces of exquisite craftsmanship and beauty. His furniture style is defined by the natural beauty of the wood, mixing timbers and using construction detail as an integral part of the design. In addition he offers a bespoke cabinet making service, designing built in bookcases, alcoves, etc. in natural wood or hand painted finishes. Commissions are welcomed from private, public and corporate clients and have ranged from small items of furniture through to complete room schemes, all crafted to the same high standards and tailor-made to individual specifications.
